About This Course

CHCSS00147 Entry to Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care is a set of skills that contribute towards satisfying the entry requirements for the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care for individuals who hold an Australian diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care or an Australian diploma or certificate III in Children’s Services and cannot demonstrate 12 months of cumulative employment to gain entry to the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.

Entry requirements

Entry to this qualification is open to individuals who hold:

  • CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care

OR

  • CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.

Alternatively, individuals may hold:

  • An Australian diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care

OR

  • An Australian diploma or certificate III in Children’s Services.

AND

  • Demonstrate at least 12 months of cumulative employment (full-time equivalent) within the last 5 years in a regulated education and care service in Australia, supported by verifiable evidence.

OR

  • Hold the CHCSS00147 Entry into Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.

  • CHCECE037: Support children to connect with the natural environment.
  • CHCECE038: Observe children to inform practice.
  • CHCECE054: Encourage understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures.

Work placement requirements – 72 hours

It is required that you have a qualified person holding a relevant higher level qualification to act as your practical supervisor during the course.

Units within this qualification require students to complete work placement hours in a regulated early childhood education and care service within Australia. These hours may be completed as part of the student’s paid employment or as an unpaid practicum. Your METS Trainer will visit the workplace to assess students on the job and/or via video conferencing throughout your training.

Your Trainer and METS staff are available if you need any assistance with discussing the arrangements with your chosen organisation or employer.
