To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed 120 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency.

A minimum of 120 hours of mandatory work placement is required. During this placement, students must actively engage with at least three consumers/participants and demonstrate competency across the full scope of required tasks, with a particular emphasis on personal care needs and support requirements.
For hours to be deemed valid, all work placements must be completed in the capacity of a voluntary or employed team member, and not as a sole trader.
All hours must be logged in the provided logbook
The consumers/participants supported must present with support needs relevant to the unit requirements.
Work placement requirements may be fulfilled through unpaid or paid employment within the organisation in which the student is currently employed, provided that the required number of suitable consumers/participants is available. Alternatively, students may complete additional placement hours by undertaking work with other eligible consumers/participants within the same organisation, or by completing placement at an alternative organisation where the required criteria can be met.
In addition, completion of a mandatory simulated personal care and manual handling training day (based in Sydney) is required to ensure safe, competent, and compliant practice in accordance with organisational policies and industry standards.
