We want to update you about a cyber incident involving VETtrak, the student system used by METS Training Services.
What happened?
A small number of personal documents were shared online by a cybercriminal group. These came from ReadyTech, the company that provides our student system. At this stage, METS has not been notified that any Scope/METS client data is involved.
There is no evidence that any personal data stolen from METS has been released, but with the support of specialist cyber security experts, we continue to monitor this situation actively.
What information does VETtrak store?
VETtrak holds personal and training-related information, including:
- Your name, date of birth, address, and contact details
- Student ID and training details (like disability or employment status)
- Course enrolments and notes
- ID used to create your student ID (e.g. licence or Medicare number – for a few students)
- Financial info like invoices (but not credit card or bank details)
- Employer contact info and certificates
What you need to know:
- Your learning continues: Online and face-to-face training are running as normal.
- We’re here to support you: If your data is affected, we will contact you directly.
- Be careful: Watch out for strange emails, calls or texts. Learn how to protect yourself at cyber.gov.au.
- Do not attempt to access any published data — this is illegal and supports cybercriminal activity.
We know this might be worrying. METS is working with experts and authorities to protect your information and keep you updated.
If you have questions or need help, call us on 02 9838 0567 or check our website.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Kind regards,
